Tiny things

Pattern: basic little basket

Perfect yarn for this kind of project. Shame I don’t have more of it and it’s already sold out.

Yarn: Shibui Knits Sock, orange (21)
Needles: 3.0 mm

This is all I can do for now. My boys keep me extremely busy.

Although I've started a huge project. Granny squares. More of it maybe next year?

Above the dining table

This is one of my favorite Marimekko fabrics.

Fabric: Puutarhurin parhaat by Maija Louekari, Marimekko

Curtain ribbons

The curtains in my son's room needed ribbons. My son wanted them to be like ropes that his tiny Lego men could climb along.

Pattern: i-cord ribbon
Yarn: Novita Bali, white (010)
Needles: 5 mm
0.7 skeins

Sorry for the bad quality of the photo. Our systems camera is broken and I had to photograph with the old tiny camera. The walls are actually not that dark.

Mud cake

I don't have much time to knit but I like to bake with my older son.

Recipe is from Fazer. My recommendations.

Guest socks.

I love wearing wool socks so I obviously think everyone else agrees. I've started knitting guest socks for people who visit us.

Pattern: basic striped socks
Yarns: Novita Nalle, dark red (574), pink (559) and white (010)
Needles: 3 mm
Size: EU 38

Baby wool.

Olin jo varma, etten ehdi tammikuussa blogata mitään. Aika on kulunut hurjan nopeasti. Alla olevat vaatteet ovat olleet käytössä jo yli kaksi kuukautta. Onneksi tein lisää pituutta hihoihin ja lahkeisiin, koska pikkuveljellä riittää raajoja.

I've been very busy and almost forgot to write about these. Our little brother has been wearing these for over two months already.

Pattern: Top Down Raglan Baby Sweater by Carole Barenys
Yarn: Gjestal Knopp, red (109)
Needles: 3 mm and 3.5 mm
Size: newborn
1.5 skeins
Buttons from Sysimetsä Design

Yarn: Gjestal Knopp, red (109)
Needles: 3 mm and 3.5 mm
Size: 0-3 months
1.5 skeins

Our baby's very calm and happy. Big brother instead is a pain in the ass so I don't have much time to knit at the moment. Hopefully things will change some day soon.

Merry Christmas

A month ago, four days after our son turned five years, three became four.

We got the cutest Christmas present ever. Baby brother.

More of finished objects after Christmas.

Christmas balls

En ensin innostunut lainkaan Arne Nerjordetin ja Carlos Zachrisonin joulupalloista. Mitä enemmän kuitenkin törmäsin kivoihin kuviin, sitä enemmän alkoivat pallot houkutella.

I didn't like these Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrison's Christmas balls at first. Now I can't stop knitting them.

Pattern: Julekuler by Arne & Carlos in Joulupallot (Finnish book)
Yarns: Novita 7 Veljestä, red (549) and white (011)
Needles: 3 mm DPNs

Owls

Our son turned 5 years old today.

Pattern: Owls cap
Yarn: Lane Cervinia Le Fibre Nobili Val Gardena, lime (237)
Needles: 3.5 mm and 4 mm

Owls from Owlet by Kate Davies (Ravelry).

Rainbow scarf

Pattern: Boneyard Shawl by Stephen West (Ravelry)
Yarn: Lang Yarns Jawoll Magic Dégradé (050)
Needles: 4 mm circular needle
1 skein (400 m)

This was supposed to be the shawl that I could knit even if I was too tired to think while breastfeeding. I just couldn't resist this lovely yarn.

Socks for preemature born babies

One last post for today.

I'm taking these to Vaasa Central Hospital later this year when I'm going to labor by myself.

Pattern: basic baby socks and Baby socks by Kerttu Latvala (Ravelry)
Yarns: Novita Nalle Colori, turquoise (813), Novita Nalle Marjaretki, cloudberry (841), Novita Nalle, pink (500), white (010), dark orange (219), colored (877), Novita Wool, green (332)
Needles: 3 mm DPNs

At first I was knitting very tiny socks but then remembered all the machines etc my son was stuck in five years ago and started making a bit wider socks.

Autumn hat for me

I desperately needed a green hat. Immediately. This was easy and fast to knit.

Pattern: Techno hat by Colleen Powley (Ravelry)
Yarn: Novita Isoveli, green (388)
Needles: 5 mm and 6 mm DPNs
0.9 skeins

I'm thinking about knitting a green collar to wear with this. After I've finished million other projects.

A gift for a big sister

..because her baby sister got the granny square blanket.

Pattern: two simple granny squares
Yarns: Novita Wool, pink (580) and light pink (504)
Hook: 2.5 mm

More baby stuff

Brown one's for our baby, the other two for a friend's baby.

Needles: 3.5 mm and 4 mm DPNs
Sizes: 60 cm

The brown and the white one are started with 26 stitches instead of 30 - to fit a newborn. I also knitted 11+11+5+5+11+11 rows instead of 13+13+7+7+13+13.

Our baby got mittens aswell.

Pattern: basic baby mittens without thumbs
Yarn: Gjestal Knopp, brown (128)
Needles: 3 mm DPNs

Lime alpaca socks

Pattern: Baby socks by Kerttu Latvala (Ravelry)
Yarn: Drops Alpaca, dark lime (2916)
Needles: 2.5 mm and 2.75 mm DPNs
1.1 skeins

I was planning on knitting a simple triangle scarf for me this winter. Something so simple that I could knit even if we'd be so lucky to have another colic baby. This week I saw this beautiful Lang Yarns' Jawoll Magic Dégradé skein in local yarn store and just couldn't resist it. This will be Boneyard shawl by Stephen West (Ravelry).

Edit. Oh dear. Can you see what's wrong with one sock? I'm too pregnant.

Edit2. Fixed.

Super Baby Knee Highs

Pattern: Super Baby Knee High Socks by Paula Paajanen
Yarn: Gjestal Knopp, brown (128)
Needles: 3 mm DPNs
Size: 0-3 months
0.5 skeins

For our yet unborn baby. I'm thinking about knitting brown socks, mittens and a cap to wear with red jacket and pants. Who cares that our almost 5-year-old son already had two tiny sets of wool clothing? This baby needs new ones.

Cloudberry socks

Pattern: basic socks
Yarn: Novita Nalle Marjaretki, lakka - cloudberry (841)
Needles: 3½ mm DPNs
Size: EU 38

I'll try to knit as many socks as I can during this year's Sock Harvest and send them to Red Cross. These are the first ones.

Granny squares

For a friend's soon to be born daughter.

Pattern: Granny Square blanket
Yarn: Novita Wool, pink (580), light pink (504), white (011)
Hook: 3 mm
Size: 5x8 squares

Every square has seven (light) pink layers and one white. Crochted together with slip stitches.

I'm so hooked up in granny squares and I'm already planning a new blanket for our new living-room.
