Sock Harvest, again.

This year's Sock Harvest has started again and this is my fourth time taking part in it. My goal is to knit socks for everyone in my family, my sister and charity.

Ensimmäinen pari on jo valmistunut, syyssukat pojalleni.

The first ones are already finished, autumn socks for my son.

Pattern: basic socks
Yarns: Novita Nalle, brown (673), Novita Wool, green (332) and Novita Florica, orange (642)
Needles: 3 mm DPNs
Size: 28 EU, almost 5 yrs

Poika halusi ensimmäisen sukan jalkaansa heti sen valmistuttua, tivasi seuraavana päivänä päiväkodista tullessaan toistakin paria ja totesi "Äiti nämä ovat maailman palhaat sukat." Sukkia saa hädin tuskin öiksi pois jaloista, joten voinen olettaa ensimmäisen parin olevan mieluisa.

He wears these all the time and told me that these are the best socks in the world.

Harvesting.

Sukkasato 2010 on käynnistynyt ja olen mukana kolmatta kertaa. Aloitin neulomalla pienet junasukat ystäväperheen noin kuukauden päästä syntyvälle esikoistyttärelle.

This big Finnish sock knitting project called Sukkasato (Sock Harvest) has started again. This is the third time I'm taking part in it. I started by knitting tiny socks for our friends' first daughter who is expected to be born in a month.

Pattern: Junasukat
Yarn: Novita Florica, light pink (502)
Needles: 3 mm
knitted with double yarn

Kiva malli edelleen, joskin sukat ovat ihan vastasyntyneelle liian isot. Olen luvannut neuloa perheelle vielä Supervauvan polvisukatkin.

This is a nice pattern but these socks are way too big for a newborn. So I promised to knit Super Baby's Knee High Socks, too.

Sweet.

I've been waving my needles studiously during these past two weeks but instead of finishing anything I have just started new projects again and again.

My friend's daughter (almost 8 months) got a new cap. I knitted this three times - two times with Novita Luxus Cloud in white. The first one was way too tiny and the second one turned out like it could fit me. Finally I put the lovely yarn aside and chose to give Florica a chance.

Pattern: Knitted baby cap, Novita Winter 2009
Yarn: Novita Florica, pink (502)
Needles: 3 ½ mm
Size: 70 cm

Luckily I have lots of Florica storaged in our work room. This is way more lighter than Luxus Cloud. I just bought our son a new spring coat which has red and orange squares - a cap made from orange Florica will absolutely go with it :)

I have bought almost 3 kilograms of yarn from sales but don't probably have time to knit that much anymore. At least not before April. We really have to work with our thesis. Besides we have an extremely ferocious three-year-old who is in such a negative age right now. He really won't let me knit at all; hides my needles and tears unfinished projects.

With patience,
