My second one.

Toinen Lehmus oli puikoilla pitkään, mutta viimein eilen sain sen pääteltyä. Jotenkin alpakan neulominen näillä helteillä on ollut liian tuskallista.

Lehmus number two was in progress for a long time but I finally finished it yesterday. Somehow knitting alpaca in a hot summer has been quite painful.

Pahoittelen kuvien laatua. Meillä on uusi hieno digijärkkäri, mutten osaa vielä käyttää sitä. Aika ei muka millään riitä sen opetteluun, mutta lupaan yrittää.

I'm sorry for the quality of these photos. We have a new DSLR (digital single-lens reflex camera) but I don't know how to use it yet. I don't even have time to learn - as if.

Tämä on menossa läheiselle luokkatoverilleni, klinikkaparilleni, jonka kanssa opin valtavasti viimeisen kolmen vuoden aikana. Hän ehti valmistua jo kesäkuun lopussa aikaisempien opintojensa ja ahkeruutensa vuoksi. Hän pitää huiveista ja uskoakseni värivalintani ei mennyt ainakaan kovin paljon pieleen. Siispä onnea vielä sinne Tampereen suuntaan, huivi lähtee postiin heti maanantaina!

This one goes to my dear classmate, clinic partner whom with I learned a lot during these past three years. She found time to graduate in the end of June because of her earlier studies and diligence. She likes scarves and I think I got the color right. So once more - congratulations!

Yhä elävien kirjoissa, vaikka helle onkin koetellut. Kesän aikana on tullut neulottua todella vähän - suorastaan hävyttömän vähän verrattuna neljään viimeiseen vuoteen. Ei ole vain innostanut nyhrätä villalangan kanssa ja monta työtä on kesken.

Still alive although this hot weather has really slowed me down. During this summer I haven't knitted almost anything - at least compared to the last four years. I just haven't had enthusiasm to touch any wools and have many many unfinished knittings.

Jotakin olen kuitenkin saanut valmiiksi. Jatan ihana Virna valmistui Tallinnan tuliaisista ja sen perään tikuttelin pienen kolmiohuivin. Puikoilla ovat myös Paraphernalia-sukat polvimittaisina sekä Lehmus-huivi. Aloitin myös virkkaamaan kauan suunnittelemaani päiväpeitettä isoäidin neliöistä kolmivuotiaan poikamme sänkyyn. Lankana on Seiskaveikka ja väreinä valkoinen, oranssi, turkoosi ja lime. Saa nähdä koska peite valmistuu, toivottavasti viimeistään rippilahjaksi!

But I have finished something. The lovely Virna by Jatta and a little trianlge scarf of the yarn I brought from Tallinn. I'm also knitting Paraphernalia socks (knee high version) and Lehmus scarf. Moreover I started to crochet a granny square blanket for our three-year-old son. The yarn I chose is Novita 7 Brothers (Finnish) in white, orange, turquoise and lime. I hope I can finish it before his confirmation day!

Tykkäsin kovasti vähän paksummasta langasta sekä upeasta mallista. Minulle sopii parhaiten vähän löysempi myssymalli, mutta ei kuitenkaan liian roikkuva. Tykkään myös vähän pidemmästä leveämmästä resorista ja palmikoista. Näitä tulee takuulla neulottua vielä useampi lisää!

I liked the thicker yarn and wonderful pattern. I prefer not-so-tight patterns but not too loose ones. I also like a little wider ribbing and cables. I will absolutely knit more of these!

Myssy kaipasi myös huivia, mutta en tällä kertaa halunnut mitään niin isoa kuin Baktus. Neuloin helpon kolmiohuivin lisäämällä silmukoita joka toisella kierroksella keskisilmukan molemmin puolin sekä reunoissa ensimmäisen ja viimeisen silmukan vierestä. Helppoa kuin mikä ja paksusta langasta valmistui nopeasti. Huivin yltää kaulan ympäri vain kerran eli solmitaan kevyesti niskan takaa. Lanka ei kutita ainakaan tätä allergikkoa.

The cap also needed a scarf and this time I didn't want to knit anything as big as Baktus. I knitted a simple triangle scarf by increasing stithes in the middle and in borders. That was easy and got finished really fast.

Tulevaisuudessa neulomisen ja ammattini yhdistäminen vähän arvelluttaa. Olen tehnyt jo koko kesän töistä suuhygienistinä (valmistun joulukuussa) ja oikean käden ranne on ollut aika usein työpäivän jälkeen kipeä. Siitäkin syystä neulominen on jäänyt vähäisemmälle. Suhtaudun intohimoisesti sekä neulomiseen että kliiniseen työhöni enkä voisi kuvitellakaan luopuvani kummastakaan. Olen siis päättänyt aloittaa vielä kolmannen tutkinnon suorittamisen ensi kuussa, josko voisin sitä kautta tulevaisuudessa työskennellä osittain suuhygienistinä ja osittain lörpötellä luokan edessä, kuten ensimmäisessä ammatissanikin. Tai jos ihan rehellisiä ollaan - en voisi kuvitella luopuvani opiskelustakaan. Pahoin pelkään, ettei kolmaskaan ammatti vielä ole se viimeinen. Sitä voi onneksi suorittaa koko ajan töiden ohella.

I have to say I'm a little bit worried about knitting and working in the future. I have been working as a dental hygienist all summer although I'll graduate in December and my right hand has been sore quite often. That's one reason why I haven't knitted so much lately. I'm very passionate what comes to knitting and clinical work and I can not think of giving up on anyone of them. So I've decided to start studying a third profession next month and I'm hoping to work part-time in clinic and part-time in front of a class someday like when practising my first occupation. But if I'm honest - I can't think of giving up on studying either. I'm afraid the third profession won't be my last. Luckily I'm able to study while working.

Everlasting Nalle.

I needed something simple to knit while watching the Royal Wedding last Saturday so I chose to knit socks of one of my favorite colors. Or actually, this yarn has them all.

I chose turquoise because it's my friend's, mother to be, favorite color. Her baby is a girl and I'm allowed to knit something pink, too.

Blogitauko venähti aiottua pidemmäksi, kiitos viimeisen työharjoittelun, viimeisten kurssien ja opinnäytetyön. Valmistun vasta ensi jouluna, mutta syksyn aion viettää jo työelämässä. Silloin teen ainoastaan enää opinnäytetyötä.

Thanks to my last practical training, last courses and thesis I haven't had much of time to knit or blog. I won't graduate before next December but I'm planning to work till that.

Paljon en ole saanut valmiiksi, mutta olen aloittanut sitäkin enemmän uusia projekteja. Eilen valmistui Baby Shedir yksi vuotta täyttäneelle ystävän tyttärelle. Voi miten ihania nämä vaaleanpunaiset jutut ovatkaan! Onneksi sain juuri tietää, että toinenkin ystävä odottaa syksyksi tyttövauvaa.

Regardless of my studying I have started a lot of new projects though. I just finished Baby Shedir for a friend's daughter for her first birthday. God I love these little pink knittings! Luckily I found out that another friend is having a baby girl too in autumn.

Vietimme toissaviikon Italiassa Como-järvellä. En valitettavasti löytänyt pikkukylästämme yhtään lankakauppaa, mutta viime viikonlopun Tallinnan reissulta keriä kertyi sitten senkin edestä. Mies ja poika olivat mukana hillitsemässä ostostelua, mutta syksyksi on suunniteilla uusi laivareissu neulekerhon naisten kanssa.

We spent a week in Italy, at Lake Como two weeks ago. Unfortunately I was not able to find a yarn shop there but did buy lots of yarn from Tallinn, Estonia last weekend. (Un)luckily my husband and son were there too to control my shoppings but we are planning a new trip for autumn for just our knitting club girls.

I'd been saving this skein for something special. This was the first time I knitted a short row heel and maybe the last one, too. These are ok but reinforced heels just fit better.

Little Child's Socks.

For a year or so our son has told that his favorite color is pink. We had no idea why until a couple of weeks ago he finally revealed it: his mother often wears pink and he loves her ♥ When I asked him to pick a color for his new socks, he chose pink.

These socks’ sole is 17 cm instead of 23 cm (in the book). I also started with 56 stitches because 72 was way too much.

Still these turned out way too big.

It's always nice trying to photograph a black object.

Yksi joululahjapipoista oli kulahtanut käytössä, joten neuloin uuden mustan tilalle. Pipon tuli olla simppeli eikä missään nimessä kireä, joten valitsin ohjeeksi Hallanvaaran. Ohjeen pipo on neulottu eri langasta, pienemmillä puikoilla ja vieläpä tasona (!!), mutta päädyin pudottamaan aloitussilmukoista vain kaksi ja neuloin tietysti pyörönä.

One of the Christmas presents had turned out too big in use so I knitted a new one to replace it. It had to be simple and not too tight so I chose to knit Ski Beanie.

Pipossa on harmaa reunus, vaikka sitä onkin kuvasta vaikea päätellä. Kavennukset tein suurin piirtein ohjeen mukaisesti. Isoveljestä on varsin helppo neuloa, tulee väkisinkin siistiä jälkeä.

Toivottavasti ei enää sada lunta ja pipoa tarvitaan vasta ensi talvena!

It has a gray ribbing although it's hard to see. I did the decreasings adapting the pattern. Isoveli is such a nice yarn: easy to knit and always turns out so neat.


Hopefully it's not gonna snow anymore and this won't be needed before next winter!

Victory.

Viimeinkin. Minä tein sen. Ensimmäinen isompi kolmiomainen pitsihuivini. Kauan tähän meni, mutta valmista tuli. En ymmärrä miksi tällaiset tuntuivat pitkään niin ylivoimaisilta. Ainakin tämän kuvion oppi helposti ja alpakkaa oli mukava neuloa bambupyöröillä.

Finally. I did it. My first bigger triangular lace scarf. This took a long time but now it's finally finished. I don't understand why these kind of scarves felt overwhelmingly difficult at first. I learned the chart easily and liked knitting alpaca with bamboo circular needles.

Neuloessa sattui vain muutama pieni virhe, mutta ne hädin tuskin näkyvät valmiista työstä. Vasta jälkikäteen huomasin tosin, että unohdin täysin neuloa työhön vielä kolmannen kaavion, mutta eipä huivi lainkaan pahalta näytä ilman sitä. Yläreunasta tuli vain siten hieman erilaisempi.

Tämä huivi menee Petriinalle, mutta ostin heti itseänikin varten Dropsin pinkkiä alpakkaa. Sitä ennen täytyy keksiä parempi tapa pingottaa valmista huivia, koska ainakin tämä ensimmäinen kerta oli niin syvältä.

Olen aika ylpeä. Minun ensimmäiseni.

I made only a couple of little mistakes while knitting. Afterwards I noticed that I had forgotten to knit chart number three but I think it won't matter. 


This scarf goes to Petriina but I immediately bought some pink Drops alpaca for my own scarf. But before that I need to find a better way to straighten these kind of scarves.


I'm quite proud. My very first.

Mambo caps.

Neuloin toissaviikolla kaksikin jo tutuksi tullutta myssyä löytäessäni kätköistäni vielä kaksi kerää vihreää Mamboa. Molemmat kuitenkin pääsivät uusiin koteihinsa jo ennen kuin ehdin niitä kuvata, joten pyysin toisesta kuvaa jälkeen päin.

I knitted two more Mambo caps during Easter holiday. They were both grabbed to their new homes before I had time to take pictures so a friend of mine sent me a photo afterwards.

For ECO cleaning.

I hate acrylic yarns but love bright colors. I just had to made some dishcloths of one of Novita's newnesses.

At first I tried to make me a cap of Silo. FIN-beanie turned out to fit my son's head instead of mine. After that I thought that Mustikka would be perfect for me and it is - not just in turquoise.

Thanks for the comments concerning our son's new orange cap! I LOVE orange too but am unfortunately going to tell about some grey stuff now. My sister asked for a cap and mittens in that color and I chose last year's new yarn Novita Tempo.

Waiting for spring.

We've had a very snowy winter. I haven't seen this much snow since childhood. I'm glad that our son gets to go skiing and make snowmen every day. I'm definitely not going to complain about the cold - we are really enjoying the snow - but I've secretly started to wait for the upcoming spring.

Our son got a new jacket for the spring time. I couldn't help myself and knitted a matching cap to wear with it.

Lima mittens.

I don't do mittens. I hate knitting thumbs because they always turn out holey. Felted mittens are the only ones I can do.

These ones were pleasant to knit. I prefer Lima rather than Novita Huopanen which of I have knitted orange mittens for me about two years ago (they are not blogged). My mittens are very warm and I have worn them a lot but Lima was nicer to handle.


I will absolutely knit more Lima mittens in the future. These mittens are going to a relative.
